Vanita Shastri is an
educationist and an artist. She has a Ph.D. in Political Economy from Cornell
University. Vanita teaches courses on International Entrepreneurship,
Business in India, and Indic Civilization. She has also been a policy
consultant at Harvard University. Vanita is a co-founder of Meru Education
Foundation, which brings unique learning programs on arts and culture of
India to audiences in North America. She founded the Habitat Learning Center
in New Delhi, India to provide computer literacy to disadvantaged youth. She
serves as the Executive Director of TiE-Boston. The
Prashant H. Fadia Foundation was established in 1998 in Massachusetts with a
focused mission to support art, health, technology and the environment. By
endorsing the Salem India Story through the Meru Education Foundation, the
Prashant H. Fadia Foundation truly brings to light the story of a group of
Salem Sea Captains, in 1799 who were amongst the first global entrepreneurs
of America, who established the East India Marine Society to foster trade
"beyond the Capes." Their efforts encouraged a brisk trade between
India and the United States in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth
