| Dr.
Kapila Vatsyayan is
one of the foremost scholars on Indian arts and culture.She
was the founder and director of Indira Gandhi National Centre
of the Arts, India. She is the author of over fifteen major
publications on performing arts, aesthetics and philosophy.
Dr. Vatsayan has been on the faculty of the universities of
Delhi, Pennsylvania, Columbia and Berkeley. She has also served
as Secretary to the Government of India in the Ministry of
Education, Department of Arts and Culture, in which capacity
she was responsible for the establishment of many institutions
of higher education in the humanities.She has won many honours
and awards including the Padma Bhushan and an honorary doctorate
from the University of Michigan. |
